Gay/Straight Student Alliances (GSAs)

Twenty-One of the area middle & high schools now have gay student groups (or alliances) that provide support for teens on those respective campuses. Yes.. you read that right: MIDDLE school—see Doolen Middle School below. These clubs usually welcome straight, gay-friendly, and questioning teens to meetings. Contact these schools (or the National web-site of GLSEN or GLSEN Arizona — Tucson) for more information on how they set up their student group/club and start the process of getting a group at your school! Support your school's Gay/Straight Alliance--attend meetings!

GLBTeen Blog

Please visit the GLBTeen Blog. I have other blogs and decided that I'd like to add some of my own thoughts about GSAs, politics relating to GLBT issues, people in the news, action items, news stories, etc. in the form of a blog to the site. This blog supports RSS feeds so you can use your favorite aggregator. I am considering moving most of the GLBTeen Resources web site content into the blog — check back for further developments!

Tucson GSA Hangout Mailing List

I've set up an mailing list called GLBTeen—Tucson GSA Hangout. This "club" is a place for Tucson area high school students to interact and brainstorm about their GSA, the Imagine Project, and statewide issues & concerns. Click on this link to go to the web address and sign up for the mailing list and join to send & receive email messages or read & post messages to the GLBTeen-GSA Hangout group.

Please note: this new mailing list service (as of Nov.20, 2005) is intended to replace the Yahoo Tucson GSA Hangout "group" that has been mostly inaccessible for the past couple of months.

"Voices of GLBT Youth"

GLSEN of Tucson sponsored the creation and distribution of a video titled,"Voices of GLBT Youth" that features interviews of local, Tucson GLBT youth telling their stories about being gay in high school. The above link is to a streaming video version made available by the video production company, PanLeft Productions. In addition, every high school in Tucson (with or without a GSA) should have received a VHS copy of the video. New copies of the video will be distributed in DVD format in the future.

Here's a link to an online resource called Kaleidoscope GSA Resources. Kaleidoscope has numerous "HOW-TO"'s, and ideas on creating, running, and growing a successful GSA. These files are in Adobe Acrobat Reader (PDF) format.

GSA Resource Network

Here's a link to an online resource called GSA Resource Network, another information source for GSAs in Tucson. Info about how to donate Tax Credit funds to your favorite GSA.
